Our study of the Greek word POWER aka Dunamis led us to the Lord's Prayer in Matthew 6. Reading about the Kingdom and Power and Glory, we come to an understanding of the AUTHORITY, the ABILITY and REPUTATION of God.
Once we come to grips with this, we understand why we should pray to Him. We begin to realize that he's worth following and listening to. With the absence of any other authority or power in this world that has the irrefutable reputation that God has, we find ourselves at His throne.
This coupled with our study of the Psalms a few weeks ago leads us to understand that the indwelling of the Holy Spirit in the believer fulfills the Hebrews wish to "dwell in the House of the Lord, Forever!" Only we had it turned around. It was the presence of God that dwelled in the believer forever.
Studying the word Dunamis further brought another old scripture into focus.
2 Corithians 4:6-7
"For God, who commanded the light to shine out of darkness, hath shined in our hearts, to give light of the knowledge of the glory of God in the face of Jesus Christ.
But we have THIS treasure in earthen vessels, that the excellency of the POWER may be of God and not of us."
Much like the message of Isaiah 60, God chose to become human and shine out of the darkness. And, not just that, but shine into our hearts. We get a vision of the Spirit as the light of God himself flooding through the darkness into our dark hearts. The POWER of God explodes into our lives and transforms everything it comes into contact with.
And, we, as the 'earthen vessels', dirty and broken, hold the POWER of God. Not just so we can have power, but that we can show the excellency of His POWER!
We come back around again; the Kingdom Authority, the Powerful Ability and all for His Glory!
1 Peter 2:9
But ye are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, an holy nation, a peculiar people; that ye should shew forth the praises of him who hath called you out of darkness into his marvelous light:
